Training

The members of the Carrollton Fire Department train twice a month, for six hours.

Here are some photos of our recent trainings.

At certain times the Department is able to hold special "Live Burn" trainings for its younger members.

During this training we were allowed to burn a vehicle that Mikes Wrecker Service had donated to us.

This summer our personnel trained on Water Rescue techniques.

This training also gave new Firefighter Trainee's the opportunity to become familiar with the equipment.

During a recent training crews advanced a hose line and sprayed water during a timed event intended on improving the companies

speed and accuracy during an actual emergency.

May 28th thru May 30th 2009 Saginaw Township Fire Department hosted the Flashover Live Burn trailer from Oakland Community College.

They were kind enough to offer a few last open slots to the members of the Carrollton Twp. Fire Dept.  Captain Justin Durow,

Firefighter Chad Leach, Probationary Firefighters Matt Sebald and Andrew Rapin participated.

The following are some photos of the experience.

 Oakland Community College operates

Firefigher Training Academy twice a

year and this Live Burn Training is the

last step before Graduation.

Outside of our normal Turnout gear, the

environment in the trailer is so hot that we

have to cover our helmets with protective

covers to prevent them from being damaged.

This is a view of the inside of the trailer before

one of the live burn trainings.  The front walls

and ceiling are lined with plywood.  The firefighters

in the training sit on the benches to either side

and sit 3 feet below  the fire to help avoid the heat.

This is a look at the outside of the trailer just as

a live burn is beginning.

This is a view of the trailer as a live burn is

progressing and the smoke and heat are

beginning to build inside.

Looking into the rear of the trailer as a group is just

starting to experience the heat and smoke.

A group is just exiting after a training burn, the

instructors have opened the rear doors to relieve

the smoke inside to prepare for the next training.

used to supply water for the training.

 March 14th 2009, C.T.F.D. participated in a joint Ice/Water Rescue Training with

Kochville and Zilwaukee Fire Departments.

Two Carrollton Firefighters make their way

into the water for a simulated rescue.

Our personnel are being protected by

Cold water resuce suits called "Gumby Suits."

The firefighters have made it to the edge

of the ice and are now able to walk on the

thicker ice.

Here a C.T.F.D. Firefighter is making entry into the

water to perform a rescue on a Zilwaukee Firefighter

Here is a joint effort by Firefighters from each

department in the rescue of 2 victims.

Marine 3 is utilized as the ice became

more unstable during the training.

Here is Utility 6 (with Marine 3) just one day

after the department took delivery of the truck.
